OPENING RECEPTION: American Women Rebuilding France, 1917-1924
Monday, March 02, 2015
Ritter Library was selected to host the special exhibition “American Women Rebuilding France, 1917-1924” March 1-April 15. The exhibition consists of reproductions of WWI-era photographs and rare silent film footage from the Anne Morgan Archives of the Franco-American Museum, Château de Blérancourt, France. It brings to life the extraordinary work undertaken between 1917 and 1924 by 350 American women who left comfortable lives in the U.S. to help the war-ravaged civilian population in Picardy, France. BW alumna and member of the Friends of Blérancourt Board of Directors, Jean Trimmer Astrop ’57, was instrumental in making this possible and will speak at the opening on March 2 at 6 p.m.
